Telemedicor Solutions: Monosensors
Axis 1 (Monosensors) addresses the chronic diseases
market, e.g. patients needing measurements and
monitoring by their doctors on a daily basis (diabetics,
patients with heart conditions etc). Monosensors are
small and easy-to-use diagnostic devices operated by the
patients themselves.
The Telemedicor Solutions Axis 1 covers the need of
transferring the medical data from patients to all
interested parties (i.e. doctors, health care
organisations, members of the patient's care team etc.)
A special Telemedicor modem
To achieve this, DT Telemedicor Ltd has created a
special modem. Telemedicor Modem utilises a custom
software and uses a GSM SIM card, allowing every
commercial medical device, such as the Lifescan One
Touch Ultra glucometer, without innate GSM capabilities,
to connect and transmit medical data to the
Telemedicor Platform,
usually using a mobile telephony company as a carrier
for the data.
For example, a glucometer is used to monitor the daily
glucose trends of a diabetic patient. The patient
connects his glucometer to the Telemedicor Modem daily,
the medical data are transmitted to the Telemedicor
Platform automatically and the
Telemedicor CareTeam®
software updates the patient's medical file instantly.
This allows the doctor to monitor the patient's health
daily, intervening anytime it is advisable.
Every deviation from the parameters that have been set
by the doctor for a particular patient initiates an
automated Telemedicor CareTeam®
response (e.g. notification of the doctor via e-mail,
SMS or fax). In this case, the doctor can recall
instantly the entire diabetic patient's readings in
order to fully evaluate the current situation and
contact the patient, if necessary, to commence
corrective measures.
Telemedicor CareTeam®
software constantly monitors whether a patient is
sticking to their monitoring programme. In the event
that they stop, it can send an automatic predefined
message to the patient, stressing the need to continue
to adhere diligently to their programme.
By using Axis 1 Solutions, the doctor can monitor
better, more closely and more efficiently a much larger
group of patients than before. For these extra services,
the doctor is rewarded through the system.
The Axes 1 devices are characterised by the category
generic name (i.e. Monosensor) followed by the device
name. Examples of this are:

diabetics,

Monosensor ECG for patients with heart
condition, and so on.
At the moment, the Telemedicor System has only
Monosensor Gluco devices available. These devices
address the large diabetics market (8% - 12% of the
general European population).
Monosensor Gluco
Monosensor Gluco is a glucometer made by a well known
manufacturer (Johnson & Johnson’s LifeScan, model
OneTouch® Ultra®) capable
to automatically connect to
the Telemedicor Platform
through the special Telemedicor modem. These glucometers are
freely distributed in many
countries.
Monosensor Gluco devices can only be used with their own
type of disposables, which can be found either at the
pharmacy / chemist or through a special delivery
service, possibly developed by the partner /
distributor. The Telemedicor Care Team software can
monitor the usage of every single test and notify the
delivery service when the time arrives for the delivery
of a new set of disposables. In this manner, disposables
can become an additional profit centre for the partner /
distributor, after a deal with the local Johnson &
Johnson branch or representative. |
